BeWell is continuing to facilitate friendly challenges for Penn State Health employees throughout 2026. These free virtual, month-long competitions are designed to promote health and well-being across all areas of the health system. Participate with your colleagues to foster friendly competition and stay motivated all throughout the year.

BeSustainable

The BeSustainable Challenge is a free, system-wide, month-long BeWell initiative for Penn State Health employees, running April 1–30, 2026 in recognition of Earth Month.

Challenge Details: 

  • The BeSustainable Challenge invites you to engage in small, manageable daily actions throughout April that support personal health, reduce waste, conserve resources, and strengthen our culture of shared responsibility. From mindful breaks and outdoor walks to reducing single-use items and conserving energy, each action is designed to be simple, practical, and achievable in a busy healthcare environment. This Earth Month, small actions can create a lasting impact.
  • Download the 30-day BeSustainable calendar (COMING SOON) and challenge yourself to complete the corresponding sustainable action each day. 
  • Participants will receive a weekly BeWell email with sustainability tips, inspiration, and a link to log their activities from the previous week.

When does the BeSustainable Challenge begin and end?

How does the challenge work

Download the 30-day calendar filled with simple, practical daily actions that support personal well-being and sustainable habits at home and at work. Challenge yourself to complete one action each day!

How do I log my BeSustainable daily activities?

Use the calendar to check off each action you complete. Every Monday, you’ll receive an email with a link to log your activities from the previous week.

Can I swap one of the daily tasks for another?

Absolutely! If one of the daily actions doesn’t fit your schedule or environment, feel free to swap it for another sustainable habit. The goal is to build awareness and make small, meaningful changes that work for you.

How will I receive communication during the monthly challenge?

All registered participants will receive a weekly Monday email from BeWell with reminders, sustainability tips, and ideas to keep you going. These emails will include the link to log your activities for the week.

Will there be prizes?

Yes! Participants who log at least one activity each week will be eligible for a random drawing to win PAWS UP! Points at the end of the challenge.
