If you find yourself stressing over what to pack for lunch here are some tips on how to pack a balanced lunch that actually makes sense!

  • Start with including all food groups. Make sure you include all the MyPlate groups to ensure you’re getting at least one serving of each in your day!
  • Pick a ‘Theme’. Make meal prep fun by creating a theme every day! Have a day where you make and bring your favorite type of food. Have a day where everything is green! Get creative and have fun with it. 
  • Pack with your family. Sometimes it’s hard to motivate yourself to meal prep. Make lunch packing a family event and have fun creating the same meal for everyone. Incorporate everyone’s favorite foods and make creative snacks together!
  • Invest in meal prep containers and freeze leftovers. Having pre-made meals that you can just toss into your lunch bag and have ready to heat up at lunchtime will change your entire lunch game. Make a large pot of chili, a casserole, or freeze your leftovers so you have a variety of options and won’t need to worry about cooking later!
